CompassionWare

CompassionWare is an open, evolving public-interest body of work exploring how humans and increasingly capable artificial intelligence systems might participate in the world with greater wisdom, compassion, curiosity, humility, agency, and care.

Its guiding question is:

Does this create conditions for a better later?

The project includes work on responsible agentic AI stewardship, ethical AI literacy for K–16 education, human–AI collaboration, continuity and accessibility, and the preservation of ideas through the Medicine Bag and Holographic Archive.

CompassionWare is offered freely. It is not a conventional software product, a doctrine, or a system for controlling AI. Its emphasis is on cultivating conditions rather than controlling outcomes, preserving human agency, and developing capability with restraint and responsibility.

This work is being developed independently under significant physical and cognitive limitations. Financial support helps sustain the project, preserve its growing archive, improve accessibility, and make continued development possible.

Support can also take many non-financial forms: technical assistance, educational review, research collaboration, repository stewardship, preservation, accessibility work, institutional introductions, grant partnerships, or thoughtful implementation.

The aim is not to build an institution for its own sake, but to help useful ideas remain freely available, understandable, adaptable, and capable of continuing beyond the capacity of any one steward.
